the wound (womb) is a portal is a tapestry that theorizes the relational dynamics of hurt and healing – as a contemplation on pain, grief, and spirituality. she infers these spiritual injuries, personal and structural,  interconnected is chronic; softening these blows with trust and reliance on something greater.

working with the malleability of paper and textiles, she punctures, repairs, cuts, and pieces various media to create collages that lay bare life. triaging hope and hurt, she asks: WHAT is the hurt? how do we heal? what systems and structures impede our ability to register and process both? what does it mean to tend to our wounds? HOW DO YOU HEAL A WOUND THAT HASN’T BEEN NAMED? WHAT ABOUT WOUNDS OF THE SOUL? are we considering god (and our communion) in all of this? 

musing on rupture, repair, spirituality, and liberation; this offering is an acknowledgement to current (ongoing) and historical legacies of oppression. the wound (womb) is a portal offers a space of reflection and communion for those who insist on staying aligned to truth, justice, and the light.
