…del carmen! hola from mexico!
the fam and i made plans in late may to get away for a week just before ramadhan begins. the husband had a busy spring market, i have had a lot going on with launching the get that shot (work)’shop and light + good, and we both needed to get some r and r.
and so we booked this trip to playa del carmen. we came a few years back just before getting pregnant with daaniya. yup, the last kidless trip. and it was fun, but the weather was.. eh. i wrote about it here.
anyway, i love this little town. it’s a bit touristy, in a small-town-beach-vacation kind of way. i call it the mexican miami in that there’s a nice mix of beach and bustle. the centro is full of restaurants, small hotels, shops and everything is in walking distance. that’s a bonus with the load that we lug around!
it’s such a fun town with lots of different things to do and see. and an all-beach vacay is tough (and not so fun) for me being in hijab, so we’ve decided to compromise with our travel choices and mix in some sights, good food, markets, people watching, shopping and swimming. and of course lots of resting and relaxing!

and coconut water drinking straight from the madaf! lol!
i’m soaking everything up with new eyes this time, now that we have two additional travel companions. because if you have little ones, you know, you can’t just lay out and sit still on vacation anymore. so be on the lookout for a post about what to do and see in playa with your kids.
just wanted to check in and say hi! hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend.
